Growing up in Denver, Colorado at age eight I witnessed my dog Blackie being hit and killed by an out of control car in my front yard. I decided then to dedicate my life to helping family pets. My wife, Nancy, and I and our four children moved to Temecula in 1991 where we established our small animal and exotic practice. Dante and Amelie, our two cats, now run our lives! We enjoy visits from our “grand pets” Lola the dog and Emmett the pig as well as our “real” grandchildren. I am thankful to be part of the talented and dedicated team who share the same passion for animals in helping provide the best veterinary care. I am honored to serve our clientele and their beloved pets. Welcome to Care Animal Hospital!

Dr. Metten

Riding through the desert and hills of Las Vegas, Nevada on my horse, was the beginning of my interest in animal health. My decision to become a veterinarian was made after spending several years during school volunteering with a family friend who was a veterinarian.

Since that time, I have enjoyed a long career providing medical care for a variety of small animals including exotic species like rats, hamsters, guinea pigs and rabbits.

At Care Animal Hospital, I particularly enjoy getting to know the pet’s family. Pet owners have a great insight into the needs of their pet and together we solve problems and build friendships.

My wife, Shelley, and I were high school sweethearts. With our two married children and seven grandchildren, we enjoy sharing our life together in San Diego.

Dr. Murphy

A lifelong fascination with animals and a longstanding passion for science and health made my path into the field of veterinary medicine an obvious one. From humble beginnings working as an assistant at the animal clinic in my small hometown in Michigan through my time at Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, I have been very fortunate to gain experience with a diversity of animals from dogs and cats to exotics and wildlife.

After earning my degree from MSU, I waved goodbye to the Great Lakes and made the long journey across the country to the sunshine of southern California. While not at the hospital, I enjoy getting outside and hiking, birding, or spending time at the beach with my fiancée and our Australian shepherd mix, Lucky.

I am thrilled to be a part of the excellent team here at Care Animal Hospital and look forward to helping the people and animals of the Temecula community!

Becky Templeton – Hospital Supervisor

I started working in the veterinary field right out of high school as a receptionist and worked my way up to surgical technician. Now, nearly 20 years later I am hospital supervisor and working with an incredible team here at Care Animal Hospital.

A resident of the Temecula Valley for 31 years, I have a border collie rescue named Molly and a dachshund rescue named Mocha; Over the years I have owned several exotic reptiles such as an Argentine Tegu, Ball python and bearded dragons. I really love that Care Animal Hospital specializes in Exotics and Wildlife.

I am an avid endurance athlete that has completed Ironman Triathlons, ultramarathons and have a huge passion for backpacking and rock climbing.

and her friend Maurice

As a young girl growing up in Canada I have always had a love for animals, both domestic and wild. Every summer my family and I would go to my Uncles’ cabin in Northern Ontario for several weeks. While there, I enjoyed watching the variety of wildlife that were native to that area.

My hope was to someday work in the animal field. I started my career as an Officer for the San Diego County Department of Animal Control and then got the opportunity to work for Care Animal Hospital in 1998. I share my home with my cat, Jolie, aka Miss Priss and my Cockatoo, Angel.

My years of working at Care Animal Hospital have been a very rewarding and challenging experience with an amazing group of team members.

and her friend Denver

Animals have always been my passion, and growing up I knew I wanted to commit my life to helping them.

I am currently going to school to get my degree in zoology and hope to one day specialize to work with lions. I am owned by two rescue pitbulls, Denver and Ellie.

I am so thankful to be a part of the Care Animal Hospital family and enjoy getting to work with the large variety of animals we see here on a daily basis.

and her friend Ella

From a young age, working with animals was always something I was passionate about and knew I wanted to pursue as a career somehow. I have been working in the veterinary field since high school, and prior to moving to Temecula and joining the Care family, I spent over 6 years with a great veterinary team in San Diego.

In 2013, I became a Registered Veterinary Technician and am now working to specialize in veterinary dentistry.

I share my home with my three dogs; a lab mix named Logan and two yorkies named Jake and Koda. I also have a tabby cat named Thomas, a Russian Blue named Belle, and my sweet newly rescued kitten Ella.

The fast paced work environment and constant variety of animals and wildlife makes every day exciting. I am so grateful to be a part of such an amazing team.

and her friend Logan

I started my career in the veterinary field in 1996 as a kennel assistant. Within 2 years of dedicated hard work and a sincere thirst for knowledge, I became a full veterinary technician. Since then I’ve spent time in all different types of practices from small to large & 24 hour emergency collecting as much knowledge as possible.

As a child, I spent most of my time trying to understand and help animals from my own dear pets to the wild life surrounding my home.

I fully believe God has placed this passion in to my heart and blessed me with becoming part of the “Care family.” I strongly feel I’ve finally found a place to call home & where they all really do Care…

Growing up, I always knew I wanted to work with animals. As a child I had three horses named Razz, Twinkie, and Frolic who were part of my inspiration to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

I have always had a love for animals and I am currently going to school to get my degree and become a Registered Veterinary Technician.

I share my home with my two lovable fur babies named Zoey, an 18 year old domestic shorthair and Noah, a rambunctious 3 month old domestic medium hair. My recent move to Murrieta brought me to Care Animal Hospital and I am so blessed to be apart of such a wonderful team.

Since I was young I have always had a love for all types of animals, but it was not until I started working at Care Animal Hospital that I knew I wanted to pursue a career in this field.

It has been such a great experience seeing a wide variety of animals each day, and assisting in caring for them is very rewarding. I enjoy working alongside the rest of our staff and hope I can take what I learn and become a veterinary technician.

I currently live with my two kitties Flynn and Nala, and hope to adopt more animals needing homes in the future.

I grew up with animals my entire life and have developed a deep love for them.

Being a part of such a caring work environment has sparked a passion that inspired me to continue working in the veterinary field.

I spend my free time practicing photography, painting, sketching and relaxing while playing video games.

Before getting my dream job as an RVT at Care Animal Hospital I always knew I wanted to work in the veterinary field. It wasn’t until I got my job here that I realized working with exotics and wildlife are also apart of my passion for animals.

At home, I have my corgi mix Keegan and two guinea pigs Teddy and Bear who I love very much. I am very grateful to work with a group of people who share the same love for animals as I do.
